Brake Testing International Ltd New Commercial Vehicle Regulation 90 Requirements
Brake Testing International Ltd are pleased to be able to offer their customers a full Type Approval service for the forthcoming adoption of the UNECE Regulation 90 Commercial Vehicle replacement friction material requirements.
UNECE Regulation 90 Annex 3 requirements governing the approval of replacement brake lining assemblies for passenger cars (vehicle categories M1, M2 and N1) have been widely adopted throughout Europe and other countries for several years. Notice has now been served that from October 2003 some countries both inside and near to Europe will also begin the adoption of UNECE Regulation 90 Annex 4 and Annex 5. These Annexes of the Regulation govern the approval of both brake pads and brake linings for commercial vehicles and trailers (vehicle categories M3, N2, N3, O3 and O4).
Brake Testing International Ltd are certified to provide Annex 4 and Annex 5 Approval testing on dynamometer, and are able to negotiate grandfathering details with the issuing approval agencies. This facility, in combination with the use of the full scale inertia dynamometer instead of a vehicle and the newly introduced BTI brake hardware and test adaptor rental service, provides customers with a cost effective approach to obtaining the required aftermarket approvals.
BRAKE TESTING INTERNATIONAL LTD provides independent, full-scale inertia dynamometer brake testing services to OEM’s, Tier One and Tier Two suppliers in the motor cycle, automotive, commercial vehicle, rail, and motor sports industries. The company offers its customers testing for product development, Type Approval (including ECE Regulation 90), performance characterisation, and life cycle durability on full size inertia brake dynamometers ranging in inertia from 23.8 kgm^2 to 2000 kgm^2. The company also offers testing to industry standard procedures and will on request develop bespoke test protocols for individual customers.
